Transform Your Life from Surviving to Thriving

Professional Counselling for trauma, grief and bereavement
Professional trauma counsellor Bets van Jaarsveld has a passion for assisting “broken” people heal emotional scars and cope with traumatic events so their lives can be restored and they go on to thrive in life, rather than simply survive.
Are you suffering from the long-term effects of trauma?
Experiencing a traumatic event such as an armed robbery, hijacking, rape, suicide, or gender-based violence might seem like a bolt out of the blue, but the long-term effects on our wellbeing can actually last much longer and if not addressed, can lead to a reduced quality of life. Neural science has shown that unresolved trauma can cause a phenomenon called “amygdala hijack”, affecting your brain in such a way as to inhibit your ability to think clearly, as well as causing a continual release of stress hormones long after the traumatic event. Not only does this affect your ability to thrive on an emotional level, but this can also impact your ability to function effectively in everyday life, as well as your physical health.
Typical symptoms of unresolved trauma

Various factors can influence someone to develop PTSD, no matter how resilient and strong they think they are. If you are suffering from unresolved trauma, you may experience:
-
Flashbacks
-
Emotional overreactions to certain triggers
-
Hypervigilance
-
Emotional numbness and dissociation that continue beyond three months after a traumatic event
Safe Trauma Counselling that allows you to unfold your own story at your own pace:
As a registered TIRA qualified trauma counsellor, Bets van Jaarsveld uses applied Metapsychology technique to lead her clients on a journey of healing and personal growth. This encompasses tested and proven processes such as “viewing” and “unblocking”, which facilitate the reconditioning of the amygdala. These methods help bypass the inhibited neocortex, which often resists therapy that attempts to resolve the trauma via cognitive processes. This process is done in a safe, non-judgemental environment that allows the client to work at their own pace and stay fully in control of their process, as no-one else can decide for someone who has experienced a traumatic event, how they should process it or feel about it. You are the expert on your own experience.
